If you’re a taco lover, and you’re in Lubbock, here are the places you need to go to satisfy your cravings for the best tacos in Lubbock. From beefy burritos to crunchy tacos, you won’t be disappointed with what Lubbock has to offer.

Raider Burrito

When you are on the search for street tacos, a great place to go is Raider Burrito. The choices of meat you can choose from are al pastor, asade, carnitas, tripas, pollo fajitas, buche, and barbacoa. They also serve burritos, quesadillas, tortas, nachos, and more authentic Mexican food dishes like chorizos. Their drinks are amazing and a lot of Tech students love to get their tacos from this Mexican restaurant. The reviews are pretty straight forward although most of them talk about being the spot to go after partying.

Now We Taco’N

Now We Taco’n is a growing taco restaurant in Lubbock. They started as a food truck around Lubbock but upgraded to a restaurant. The best dishes include tacos, burritos, quesadillas, enchiladas, and chips, and salsa. One of the most memorizing experiences here is seeing the Patrick Mahomes mural on the building. If you live under a rock, Patrick Mahomes is the starting quarterback of the Kansas City Chiefs and he has won an MVP and a Super Bowl MVP, and he is a Texas Tech alum.

Raspados Colima

Raspados Colima is a delicious street taco restaurant that is so good, but heartbreaking because they are only open on weekends, so after you go there, you have to wait an entire week until you can go back. They serve pollo, carne asada, al pastor, barbacoa, and carnitas tacos in corn tortillas. Customer favorites on yelp seem to be the carne asada tacos. Raspados stands out not just because of their tacos, but also because their menu contains their delicious elote, which is corn in a cup, and fruit in cups which look as good as it tastes.

Taqueria Jalisco

Taqueria Jalisco’s is a little more of a sit-down type of Mexican restaurant, but they still serve their delicious tacos alongside a multitude of authentic Mexican food like menudo. Jalisco prides itself on having homemade corn and flour tortillas. They even serve great breakfast as a choice of the many entrees’s on the menu. Most of their reviews online, people claimed Taqueria Jalisco to be the best Mexican food restaurant in Lubbock. If you need a suggestion of what to try, you should get the mixed fajita plate, it comes with a side of guacamole, sour cream, beans, pico, and two flour tortillas.

Taqueria Autlan

Taqueria Autlan is a place where customers can either order their food outside at the food stand, or go inside to get the restaurant feeling. They have great homemade chips and salsa that are second to none in Lubbock. The most talked-about dish there is the birria tacos. One of the most authentic Mexican food restaurants you can find in all of Texas. From the street and birria tacos, to the enchiladas, Taqueria Autlan is a top tier Mexican food place in Lubbock, it is located at 2722 50th St.

Torchy’s Tacos

The taco restaurant that is talked about the most amongst Texas Tech students is Torchy’s Tacos. Tocrchys menu has a myriad of taco options that span anywhere from shrimp tacos to fried chicken, and salmon tacos. They even have a gluten-conscious plates. for all the healthy eaters out there. They also have great breakfast entrees such as chicken and waffles. But something that makes Torchy’s different from other taco restaurants is their Lil’ Nookies, they are fried chocolate chip cookie dough dusted with powdered sugar with cherries on top. Besides the food, they also have amazing drinks and a happy hour that lasts Monday through Friday from 3 p.m. to 6 p.m.

QDOBA Mexican Eats

A very underrated Mexican restaurant is QDOBA Mexican Eats. They have their street-style tacos, burritos, bowls, quesadillas, nachos, and tortilla soups. Protein choices include adobo chicken, steak, pulled pork, brisket, ground beef, and even plant-based proteins. If you want a good, big burrito, go to QDOBA. Their burritos are a town favorite because of the size and how they fit everything in a burrito, it’s so big you can share it and still get full. The place is very clean and the service is great according to the reviews on Yelp. The service is credited for being very friendly and helpful.

Chimy’s

If you have not tried Chimy’s yet, you should go there after you read this, and I promise you will have a great time. They have beef, chicken, and pork crispy tacos. Their soft choice includes fajitas, beef, bean and cheese, green chile pork, and green chile chicken. They have awesome chips and salsa as an appetizer, but the cheese fries don’t miss. If you don’t like a plate of cheese fries, they have an unlimited salsa bar, and the reviews claim it is the best.

Velvet Taco

A great taco restaurant that serves non-traditional tacos that opens this spring is Velvet Taco. Lubbock will be one of a few cities to have a Velvet Taco. They specialize in bringing many cultures into one taco, like burger tacos, Cuban pork tacos, rotisserie chicken, and even beer-battered cauliflower tacos from their vegan menu. If you like spontaneous dishes, this will be your favorite place. Velvet Taco even serves a special entrée that changes every week, and you won’t know what it is until you go. The most creative taco combinations can come and go so it’s not something to miss out on. An example of their weekly specials is the Choco-Taco. It is a chocolate brownie, chocolate ganache, white chocolate, toasted coconut, raspberry coulis, mint, with chocolate waffle tortillas, that will only be available Feb. 10 through the 16. Price may vary for certain tacos, but the tacos are well worth it.
