TTU Soccer Wraps Up The Month of August With Two Wins

After starting off their season 1-0-1, the TTU Soccer Team would wrap up the end of August against Hartford and Abilene Christian. Both matchups took place at John Walker Soccer Stadium in Lubbock, Texas, ending both games in victories.

Hartford

In their first matchup against Hartford, it started in a defensive stand from both squads. With zero points in the first half, the game would not get going until the second half.

Fast-forward to the 65th minute of the contest, Ashleigh Williams would be able to get a goal to go. The goal came courtesy of an assist from Charlotte Teeter, who drove the ball down the field. The goal would be the only of the game from both teams. The Red Raiders won the contest 1-0 and improved their record to 2-0-1.

In the contest, the Lady Raiders would also be without Kirsten Davis and Eva Hurm, who were out with injuries. With two keys players out, Texas Tech Soccer will look for the two to return soon.

Abilene Christian

Texas Tech Soccer played their second matchup of the week on Sunday, August 29th, against Abilene Christian. Abilene Christian, who headed into the contest 1-2, would look to get back on track, but the Red Raiders had different plans.

At a much different pace from the previous game against Hartford, the Lady Raiders hosted a scoring clinic. With four points coming from Macy Schultz and Kirsten Davis, Texas Tech soccer would host their third shutout of the season.

Schultz got the Lady Raiders started only 14 minutes into the contest with an assist from Cassie Hiatt and Macy Blackburn. Then only six minutes later, Davis responded with a goal of her own to head into halftime up 2-0.

After halftime, the Lady Raiders would go up 3-0, courtesy of ACU scoring an own-goal. Then less than a minute later, Davis added another point to go up 4-0. Now with a commanding lead, the Lady Raiders only three minutes later would see Macy Blackburn contribute a point of her own. The score came from a double assist from both Davis and Schultz.

With a commanding 5-0 lead, the Schultz and Davis duo would get another point in the 54th minute. While the goal would come from Schultz, the assist would come from a perfect pass from Davis.

Now up 6-0, Texas Tech Soccer coasted to a win with excellent play on both sides of the ball. This type of play propelled them to win 6-0 and improve their overall record of 3-0-1.
