Texas Tech Red Raiders Football Schedule

With Summer on the horizon, the Texas Tech Red Raiders have begun to key in on the 2021 football season. With the Texas Tech football schedule now released, it is not able to go over their schedule.

 Preseason Texas Tech Football Schedule 

Houston

The first game of the season will be played on September 4th against the University of Houston at NRG Stadium in Houston. The game is slated to begin at 6 pm. And will be a great first game non-conference matchup for the Red Raiders. Texas Tech is set to be the home team in the matchup. That will have a few stipulations of its own. Those stipulations are that players such as KeSean Carter and Ta’Zhawn Henry, former Red Raiders. Now play for Houston and will look to prove a point. So look for September 4th to be a hard-fought game between the two teams. In the first game of the season at NRG Stadium.

SFA

The second non-conference game of the season for Tech Football will be played against Stephen F Austin at Jones at t stadium in the season home season opener on September 11th. In the first game at home in Lubbock, Texas, on the football schedule in a very winnable game, the Red Raiders will look to take care of business. The September 11th game should be a great warmup game as the Red Raiders prepare to enter the Big 12 Conference and make a statement early in the season by beating the Stephen F Austin Lumberjacks.

FIU

The third and final non-conference game of the season will be played against Florida International University. The contest will take place at Jones At t Stadium in Lubbock, Texas. The game is slated for September 18th and will be the last tune-up game for Texas Tech Football heads into the regular season. This will be a crucial game for the Red Raiders and will be an excellent time to see whether or not the team will have a chance to earn a bowl game. The September 18th matchup will be crucial for the Red Raiders as they look to head into the Big 12 Conference with some much-needed momentum.

Big 12 Conference First Half

Texas

In the first Big 12 Conference game on the Texas Tech Football Schedule, the team travels to Austin, Texas, to take on the Texas Longhorns. The matchup is slated for September 25th, and the time is still TBA. The Red Raiders will look to go into Texas Memorial Stadium and look for revenge after letting the Longhorns come back in Lubbock in the last meeting between the two. The game will also be Texas’ new head coach Steve Sarkisian first Big 12 Conference game as a head coach. Sarkisian was the former offensive mastermind under Nick Saban as the offensive coordinator at Alabama. He will be looking to prove a point to the rest of the conference early in the season.

The September 25th matchup with the time still TBA will be a big one for the Red Raiders looking to prove that they can compete with any team at the highest levels.

West Virginia

In the second Big 12 Conference matchup for the Texas Tech Red Raiders, they travel to Morgantown, West Virginia, to take on the Mountaineers. The matchup is scheduled for October 2nd, and the time is still TBA. This matchup is very winnable, and with the Mountaineers still rebuilding and the Red Raiders reloading. It will be a good matchup between the two. Expect a high-scoring affair from the Red Raiders and all the weapons they have built and acquired for their tough Big 12 schedule. The October 2nd contest will be a true test of the Red Raider’s ability and will be one to tune in for.

TCU

The next game on the Red Raiders football schedule is the TCU Horned Frogs. The Horned Frogs are looking to have a successful season like the Red Raiders, and the matchup between the two will be crucial for either team. The game is scheduled to take place against TCU on October 9th, and the time is still TBA. The Red Raider coaching staff also has a backstory tied to the TCU program as well. Before coaching at the school, Sonny Cumbie, the offensive coordinator and quarterbacks coach at Texas Tech, coached at TCU. The October 9th matchup has many stipulations, so make sure to show up and out to Jones at t stadium on October 9th.

Kansas

Heading into the second half of the Red Raiders football schedule, the team is slated to take on the Kansas Jayhawks. The matchup is scheduled for October 16th and should be a game that the Red Raiders can win. Last season the Red Raiders edged out the Jayhawks 16-13. Now with a more experienced and much deeper team, the Red Raiders should be able to take care of business. The October 16th matchup will be crucial for the Red Raiders as they will look to turn the corner on the season with a win.

Big 12 Conference Second Half

Kansas State

Now in the final stretch of the Red Raiders football schedule, the team will return to Lubbock, Texas, to play at Jones at t stadium. The contest is slated to begin on October 23rd, and the time is still TBA. With the wildcats losing a semi-successful 2020 season, the team will look to repeat as many overlook them. The game will take place at home and is one of those games on the Red Raiders schedule that they must find a way to win. The October 23rd game against Kansas State will be crucial in moving forward. As the team will look to get revenge after losing the last two seasons.

Oklahoma

After a busy football season thus far, the Red Raiders will travel to Norman, Oklahoma, to take on the Oklahoma Sooners. The Big 12 contest is set to begin on October 30th, and the time is still TBA. This will arguably be one of the most challenging matchups of the season for the Red Raiders. The Sooners will be coming off another phenomenal season, the team will come back stronger than ever. With a solid team on both sides of the ball, the Sooners will be a serious threat. With their high-caliber offense and continually improving defense. While a win in Norman is unlikely. The October 30th away game will be a good chance to climb in rankings by putting up a fight vs. Oklahoma.

Iowa State

The next game on the Texas Tech Football schedule is against Iowa State on November 13th; the time is still TBA. The Cyclones are coming off one of their best seasons in years. Returning many key starters will be a dangerous team. Now the 2021 Texas Tech team will look to end the Iowa State hot streak in the November 13th conference matchup.

Oklahoma State

As the season begins to wrap up and more than likely with a bowl game on the line for the Red Raiders, the team will play their final home game of the season. The game will be against Oklahoma State on November 20th, and if history repeats itself will be an entertaining game. In recent years the Oklahoma State Cowboys have had issues with the Red Raiders. The game’s time is still TBA but will take place in Lubbock, Texas. The November 20th matchup will be crucial and will be a great game to spectate.

Baylor

In the last Big 12 Conference game of the season, the Red Raiders will leave Lubbock, Texas, and travel to Waco, Texas, to take on the Baylor Bears. The matchup is scheduled for November 27th, and the time is still TBA. The Baylor Bears, like the Red Raiders, are trying to improve their program and get back in the national rankings. With it being a very winnable game, expect a competitive, hard-fought game. As both teams will look to win the game as they may still be fighting for bowl eligibility. November 27th will be an interesting matchup.

Overall, look for the Red Raiders to have an intense season. As they will look to improve after picking up tons of new weapons on both sides of the ball.
