Fitness: 4 tips to keep your summer bod on track

Tip #1:  Don’t starve yourself for a six pack!

Abs are essential to every complete summer bod, mainly because they are so hard to get. ere’s no way around the dedication and commitment it takes to get them. at’s why cutting weight can be a daunting task for most. Many get the image in their head of small tasteless portions and liquid meals. I’m telling you it doesn’t have to be this way and you can actually enjoy your meals. Crazy, right? I know just hear me out. Food is good, your body needs food and different kinds of it to nourish it with the proper nutrients it needs to grow. is leads me to my next tip…

Tip #2:  Meal prepping is key but so is failing

You’ve heard of it, you’ve seen the articles “ e Best Meal Prepping Recipes of All Time” all over the internet. You may have even dabbled in it but I get it Taco Bell exists and it is constantly calling our names. Meal prepping is key yes but the real key is knowing you’ll fail sometimes. Listen temptations are always there and sometimes it’s too much and you end up eating a whole pizza. Did you get o your diet? Sure, did you ruin it? Absolutely not. As long as you remember this never let a cheat meal turn into a cheat day. Have your pizza or Taco Bell but always come back to your meal plan.

Tip #3:  Make alcohol work for you not against you

Alcohol is the greatest social lubricant of all time, not doubting that. at’s why a night out on the town is most likely going lead to some drinks. is is okay and it won’t ruin your quest for the perfect summer bod as long as you remember these two simple conditions. 1. Order the right drinks. is is huge because you can turn a relatively low-calorie drinking night into a high-calorie binge fest that will usually lead to poor eating choices after the drinking is done. Stick to vodka and water. Simple as that, throw some lime in there for taste but never soda. A couple whiskey cokes and your halfway through a calorie bomb. All the sugar in the soda will not only leave you hungover but the sodium will leave you bloated. 2. Don’t drink too much. Simple fact.

Tip #4:  Weights v. Cardio

There’s a reason I’ve le the gym talk for last and why I only have one tip on it. It’s because your summer bod depends mostly on the choices you make outside the gym. Hitting the gym is very important don’t get me wrong this is where you sculpt the marble and turn it into a masterpiece. So, the big question when cutting is whether hitting weights or cardio is better. e truth is you need a bit of both. Everyone is different and how much you need of each depends on you but a good rule of thumb that is stick by is the 4:1 ratio. 4 days of weights and 1 day of cardio based activity. This helps me build muscle while still shredding fat. This is something you can play around with to find what works best with you.
