Campus Live Unplugged – Meet Bekah Latham

In this month’s music section, we wanted to dive into the local music scene here in LBK. We had the chance to sit down with TTU student, Bekah Latham, in our very first feature we call: Campus Live Unplugged.

Get to know Bekah by taking a look at our interview below. Who knows, you might catch her performing live sometime at e Blue Light!

When did you start singing/playing music?

I grew up in a home where music was a constant. I remember singing as a kid with my mom but the playing and singing really started when I was about 12 when I received my first guitar.

Who’s your biggest musical inspiration and why?

My biggest musical inspiration is my mother because she claims “music saved her” when she was young and struggling. Music was her cornerstone of faith. She’s the most honest and purest soul I know and has always encouraged me to pursue my passion for music.

Where do you like to perform in LBK?

If given the opportunity I’d be happy to perform anywhere there are ears. I have performed at Blue Light a few times on Singer/Songwriter night and enjoy the original raw vibes.

What’s your favorite song you’ve written so far?

My favorite original song so far is probably “Holding On” because I enjoyed the process of writing it the most. If you made it in the music industry, what genre would you want it to be in? I’m the most indecisive person I know and enjoy such a wide variety of music I honestly wouldn’t want to categorize myself. I’d rather just create music and see where it goes rather than planning how it should be.
