Last week’s volleyball match

Texas Tech has created a trend this season after they took on #13 Iowa State and left the series with a 1-1 record. The record matched the previous series Tech played against WVU, splitting 1-1 as well. During their second match with Iowa State, they fought to win, ending with 3-2. Thursday night, they fell to the Cyclones with a score of 3-1. In these two games, we saw senior transfer Samantha Sanders put-up double-digit kills. Texas Tech volleyball will be taking on the Horned Frogs this weekend in Fort Worth, Texas. They certainly will have a chance to change this trend and improve their record.

Changes this season

The Red Raiders have added some new faces to their team, including new assistant coach Jon Wong. Wong comes from Bradley University, where he served as an assistant coach for four seasons. Next, Head coach Tony Graystone added five new players to the roster, including two transfer students. First is Reese Rhodes, Freshman S, who comes from Waco, Texas, where she was a four-year letter winner along with District Setter of the Year and District MVP. Next is Maddie O’Brien, Freshman OH, who comes from Katy, Texas, where she was a four-year letter winner and earned multiple district-level awards. Where she also helped lead her team to the regional quarterfinals in her senior year. Then we have Mackenzie Morgan, Freshman OH, who comes from Bellville, Texas, where she was a four-year letter winner and received TAVC recognition three years in a row. Next is Reagan Cooper, Sophomore OH, who comes from Washington State, where she played in 19 sets recording 39 kills. Lastly, Samantha Sanders, senior OH, comes from Texas A&M, where she played in 53 matches recording 25 kills and 37 points.
