Downtown Farmers Market in Lubbock

Enjoy Fresh Fruit and Vegetables of the Farmers Market

This Saturday June 20th, The Lubbock Downtown Farmers Market will be up and running. You can check out all the vendors at 19th and Buddy Holly Ave from 9:00AM to 1:00PM. There will be new vendors and returning vendors, plenty of fresh produce, amazing food, and unique art. The Lubbock Farmers Market takes place in the heart of the Depot District and allows you to have an authentic taste of Downtown Lubbock.

How It Began

The Lubbock Downtown Farmers Market began in 2014. Their goal was to connect local producers ( of art, crafts, and food) with local consumers. The Lubbock Downtown Farmers Market has only grown and expanded since 2014. It has quickly become a staple in Lubbock. The farmers market season began on May 30th this year and they plan to have one every Saturday until October 17th.

But, why is it important to attend the farmers market?

First of all, it is vital in supporting the local economy. By purchasing local produce, cheeses, and meats you support a local producer, who is then able to invest their money back into our local economy. Another benefit of shopping at your local farmers market is the ability to get all your questions answered. This allows you to be informed, ask about the growing practices, and maybe get some tips on the best way to use their product! You are guaranteed fresh produce at The Lubbock Downtown Farmers Market. Lastly, the farmers market helps build a sense of community in Lubbock. When you are downtown looking at the vendors, eating yummy food from a food truck, and hanging out with your family, you can’t help but be proud to live in Lubbock.

Last Saturday, The Lubbock Downtown Farmers Market kicked off it’s season with around 45 different vendors. Past seasons have proven that the farther into the season we get, the more vendors will appear! This is a great way to get out of the house for the weekend, buy some fresh produce, support local businesses, and maybe purchase some art kits or beautifully sculpted pieces.

Due to COVID-19 concerns, The Lubbock Downtown Farmers Market is taking the necessary precautions to keep everyone safe. They have set up sanitizing stations, given guidelines to navigate the market at safe distances, and encourage guests to wear masks and to please stay home if you are not feeling well!

The Lubbock Downtown Farmers Market is free to the public, so you should definitely check it out this Saturday! The farmers market is family friendly, dog friendly, and a great way to support our beautiful community. We hope to see you this Saturday between 9:00AM and 1:00PM at 19th and Buddy Holly Ave.
