Texas Tech Soccer Win Against Oklahoma State After Loss to Texas

The Texas Tech soccer team faced Oklahoma State for a mid-week game on Thursday, October 7, at the John Walker Soccer Complex. The team headed into the game with an overall 9-3-1 and 2-2 in the conference. 

TTU vs. OSU First Half

The Texas Tech soccer trailed early on in the first half as Oklahoma State jumped on an early lead. Gabriella Coleman struck the game’s eighth-minute goal, giving OSU a 1-0 lead.

Following the goal, TTU started to find their rhythm by maintaining the ball on offense and creating possessions. Senior Kirsten Davis tied the game off an assist by Sophomore Gisselle Kozarski in the 36th minute. In addition, the goal marked Davis’ 12th goal of the season.

TTU vs. OSU Second Half

After halftime, the goalkeeper Junior Madison White kept the Cowgirls from taking the lead. White made a leaping save in the 61st minute to keep the score tied.

On the other hand, the Red Raiders started to fire up in the second half. The team fired off four shots but failed to score, so the game went into overtime.

Texas Tech Soccer vs. Oklahoma State Overtime

In overtime, Senior Charlotte Teeter won a free kick in the 91st minute. Another TTU opportunity came up from a shot off the foot of Davis. An OSU defender cleared both kicks.

Furthermore, neither team could cash in a goal to take the win. The game ended in a 1-1 draw. Texas Tech soccer outshot Oklahoma State 13-12, with seven of the shots coming in goal. The team also won the corner kick battle 8-6.

Next Up On the Schedule for Texas Tech

The Red Raiders hit the road for two games. They will first head to Ames, Iowa, to play Iowa State Thursday, October 14. In addition, TTU will then travel to Morgantown, West Virginia, to play WVU on Sunday, October 17. 

Furthermore, the soccer team will head home to finish out the Big 12 schedule. The Red Raiders play Kansas Friday, October 22, then TCU Thursday, October 28.

The team will then head to the Big 12 Championship in Round Rock, Texas, starting Sunday, October 31.
