To better understand the CMI program we asked Robert Peaslee, Associate Professor and Chairperson of Journalism & Creative Media. What kind of career path students can pursue in this degree? As well as the impact this degree has in the workforce?

“Creative Media Industries offers a wide-ranging, adaptable skillset in multimedia storytelling that can be applied to any number of career outcomes. Including those in the film/television industries, gaming and interactive, sponsored content, sports media, broadcast journalism, photography, and many more,” Robert Peaslee said.

“Because we approach CMI by encouraging students to get busy from their first day in the program. From creating content with their peer and faculty mentors, graduates are poised to enter the workforce with a robust portfolio of work. As well as a network of professional contacts established through authentic production relationships.”

If you were to take a course in CMI you would find yourself in many great classes. For example, Digital & Social Media, Theories of Media and Communication, Visual Communication, and Writing for Feature Films. With the CMI program being in the College of Media and Communications you will have the option to take electives in many other related fields of study.

If you are interested in starting or changing your major to CMI, contacting the advisor is the first step. Donald Ellis is the current head advisor of CMI. He is sure to set you straight from the beginning, as well as continuing to help you throughout your journey. A CMI degree at the Texas Tech College of Media & Communication, guarantees to make a difference in the workforce.
