Oklahoma Sooner versus Texas Tech Baseball

Coming off a week break, TTU Baseball beats OU in Big 12 series in regularly scheduled Big 12 series in Norman. The Red Raiders are currently 33-12 on the season and, after an impressive performance in Norman, stayed ranked at No. 7 in the nation. The series was a must-win by the Red Raiders as they looked to remain in contention for a chance to win the conference. 

Oklahoma Series Game One

        In a must-win series, the Texas Tech Red Raiders headed up to Norman, Oklahoma, to take on the Sooners. Who are looking to salvage their season. Tech would put on a clinic in two of the games in the three-game series, but in another would be tested. 

        The series began Friday, May 14th at 6:30 pm. It would then go all the way into ten innings to decide who would win the first contest of the series. The game began with a strong start by the Red Raiders, who scored four times in the first inning, led by a barrage of hits. From there, the Sooners would only respond once until the fourth inning. The early charge by the Red Raiders was led by Cody Masters. Who hit a grand slam sending himself and three others all to home plate. After a fast start, Texas Tech would then begin to slow down. 

        Oklahoma would then respond in the fifth inning with five scores of their own to put them up 6-5, and then another score would put them up 7-5 half through the contest. From there, the Red Raiders would struggle when up to bat and not able to capitalize. They would go onto lose the contest 9-8 in ten innings. The Red Raiders would then look to the next must-win game on Saturday in Norman. 

Tech Baseball Beats OU in Game 2

        After a first-game loss, the Texas Tech Red Raiders took the field at L. Dale Mitchell Park in Norman, Oklahoma, on Saturday, May 15th at 2 pm. In a clinic when up to bat, the Red Raiders scored 15 times and held the Sooners two just two. The contest included all nine of the team’s starters scoring and was the biggest win against the Sooners in program history. 

        The team came out red hot and put up eight scores on the board in the first three innings. Up 8-0 early and with the momentum on their side. The team matched a score by each team in the fifth. Then finish the game in the seventh with another six-score inning to demolish the Sooners 15-2 in the second game of the series. 

        The team would then look onto the third and final game of the series on Sunday in a must-win series.

Tech Baseball Beats OU in Game 3

        In the three-game series finale, the Texas Tech Red Raiders put away the Oklahoma Sooners in an away series. Not even playing nine innings, the Red Raiders got hot early and scored 11 runs in the first four innings. With two errors in the contest, the Sooners were fighting from behind the entire game. In a team effort, the Red Raiders were able to put away the Sooners 13-2 in seven innings to secure a series win. 

Overview

        After a bumpy start to the series, the Texas Tech Red Raiders were able to take care of business in Norman. Against the Oklahoma Sooners in the final two games of the series. With the win, the team would secure its third straight road series. Which is in improvements on the road in comparison to prior seasons. By beating the Sooners 28-4 in the final two games. The Red Raiders came home with another win to add to their resume as they look to wrap up the Big 12 Conference regular season.
